- Do it. You’re Ready
The bad news: It’s quite likely you’re guilty of one or more of the following: You sit around at work, you sit around at home, you eat poorly, and/or you don’t exercise enough. And to add to the bad news, those bad habits are going to wreak havoc a decade or two down the road.
You can do this yourself. Make it your DIY project for the day to take a few easy steps to getting healthy. You owe it to yourself and to the people who love and depend on you.
Give your doc a name: We’ve made this part really easy. We know you want to take care of yourself, but you don’t have a primary care doctor. Maybe you stop by the immediate care clinic whenever “something’s going around.” But that’s just surface cleaning. You should know your doctor, and your doctor should know you. Give your doctor a name. Yep, that easy.
Do the basic maintenance: You get your oil changed, you pay your bills, you call your mom … You do call your mom, right? Annual physicals need to be part of your maintenance routine, regardless of age. Don’t wait for someone to do it for you (like your wife or girlfriend). Request your appointment now. Then go call your mom, already!
The 30s are a pretty healthy time for most men. You’re not a new car anymore, but you’re still running almost entirely maintenance free. Just make sure you’re up to date on these:
• Normal BP (lower than 120/80) – get tested every 2 years.
• High BP (between 120/80 and 139/89) – get tested every year.
• Very High BP (over 140/90) – discuss treatment with your doctor.
More good news: Your annual physical will knock out the first three items in one visit. Request a physical now.
Yeah, yeah, eat better and exercise… You know. But just in case you only know almost everything, give these a try:
Great thing about these quick, multiple-choice quizzes – no matter how many answers you get right, you still come out ahead. You know, that whole knowledge-is-power thing. Man enough to test yourself?
Quiz 1: Think you’re really exercising? Take it like a man.
Quiz 2: To eat or not to eat. Take it like a man.
Quiz 3: Have you met your prostate? Take it like a man.
