There are three general and hugely important rules that you absolutely must follow if you wish to take more responsibility when it comes to your health insurance.
Plain and simple. Your health insurance card simply must be there if and when you need it. If you don’t have it, you’ll have to pay much more on-site. You can get reimbursed later on, but that’s a hassle that could have been avoided if you were carrying your card. Always have it with you!
If you have health care coverage, you have an insurance booklet. Ask your employer for it, ask your provider, do whatever you need to do to get it in your hands. Then grab a coffee and crank out a quick reading session. Top to bottom, left to right, group words together to form sentences. Ingest, digest, comprehend.
